Skål International celebrates its 85th World Congress in South Africa

From September 29 to October 2, 2026, the attention of the international Skål community will turn to Nelson Mandela Bay, in Gqeberha (South Africa)Skål International World Congress.

The meeting will bring together professionals and leaders from the international tourism industry in a particularly significant setting: a coastal region of South Africa seeking to project itself as a destination, allowing participants to learn about a different tourism reality, exchange experiences, and establish new professional connections.

The motto chosen for this edition, “Leading Tomorrow for Tourism Through Friendship and Leadership”, focuses on two concepts that are part of Skål's historical identity: friendship as a way to establish professional relationships and the leadership needed to face the transformation that tourism is undergoing.

But the World Congress is more than just a professional gathering. Skål International points out that its annual congress offers its members the opportunity to discover new destinations and different realities within the global tourism sector. Furthermore, the event includes the Skål International General Assembly, in which the new Executive Committee of the organization is elected.

The choice of Nelson Mandela Bay also has a tourism dimension. Gqeberha is presented as one of Africa's dynamic coastal destinations, and the congress will bring together destination managers, hospitality professionals, tourism marketing experts, and innovators from the international industry.

For Skål Málaga-Costa del Sol, this meeting also has special significance. Our membership in an international network allows our club's professionals to connect with colleagues from other destinations and markets, generating opportunities that extend far beyond the borders of each city.

Tourism is also built through the people who make it possible. And that is precisely one of the ideas that the World Congress is putting back on the table: sharing knowledge, creating relationships, discovering destinations and looking together towards the future of an industry in constant transformation
